Rate My Professor Rafiq Hijazi

Dr. Rafiq Hijazi is an Associate Professor in the College of Natural and Health Sciences at Zayed University. He earned his PhD in Statistics from the American University in Washington, DC, in 2003. With more than 25 years of teaching experience primarily in the United Arab Emirates, he previously held positions at United Arab Emirates University from 2003 to 2012 and at Al Ain University from 2012 to 2019 prior to joining Zayed University in 2019. Throughout his career, he has contributed to local and international accreditation processes as well as program and curriculum development initiatives.

His research focuses on compositional data analysis, applied statistics, and statistics education in the Arab World. Hijazi has participated in numerous interdisciplinary projects examining topics relevant to the UAE, including the labor market, higher education, financial institutions, and public health. He teaches courses such as business statistics, probability and statistics, statistics and research methodology, statistical modeling, and data analytics. He is a member of the American Statistical Association, the International Statistical Institute, the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences, the CoDa-Association, and the International Association for Statistical Education.
