Rate My Professor Rajeev Upadhyay

Prof. Rajeev Upadhyay is a Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad. He holds a B.Tech. and a Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. With more than 22 years of professional experience in the upstream petroleum industry, he has worked across all stages of the reservoir field life cycle, including exploration, appraisal, and development of hydrocarbon reservoirs. He transitioned from industry to academia and joined IIT (ISM) Dhanbad as Associate Professor in the Department of Petroleum Engineering in April 2016, advancing to Professor in January 2025. His research interests include Coalbed Methane reservoirs. In addition to his faculty role, he serves as Dean of the Office of International Relations and Alumni Affairs.
