About Reza

Dr Reza Hashemi is a Senior Lecturer in the College of Science and Engineering at Flinders University. He holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Monash University, an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tabriz, and a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Razi University. His research focuses on the mechanical behaviour of biomaterials, fretting wear and corrosion in orthopaedic implants, implant retrieval studies, metal 3D printing for biomedical implants, and surface modification methods. Hashemi serves as a full member of the Medical Device Research Institute at Flinders University.

Throughout his career, Hashemi has received several awards, including the Research Student Mentorship Award from the College of Science and Engineering at Flinders University in 2023, the Dean (Education) Award for Excellence in Teaching and Innovation in 2018, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Early Career Researchers in 2015. He is an editorial board member of the journals Materials and the International Journal of Materials Engineering Innovation. Hashemi has also acted as special issue editor for topics such as new advances in mechanical behaviour of biomaterials and failure analysis of biometals. He coordinates and lectures topics including Engineering Materials and Statics, Fatigue and Fracture Analysis, and Materials Selection in Design.
