Rate My Professor Richard Dawkins

Richard Dawkins is an emeritus fellow of New College, Oxford. He studied zoology at the University of Oxford and completed a DPhil there in 1966. He held positions at the University of California, Berkeley before returning to Oxford in 1970 as a lecturer in zoology. He became a reader in zoology in 1990 and was appointed the first Charles Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science at the University of Oxford in 1995, a role he held until 2008.

Dawkins is known for his contributions to evolutionary biology. His research has focused on animal behaviour and the gene-centred view of evolution. Key publications include The Selfish Gene (1976) and The Blind Watchmaker (1986). He is a Fellow of the Royal Society and has received numerous honours for his work in science communication and evolutionary biology.
