About Rohan

Dr. Rohan B. Ambade is a Research Scientist in Aerospace Engineering at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. He previously served as a Research Professor and Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Organic and NanoEngineering at Hanyang University in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 2017 to 2023. Dr. Ambade earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pune in India, a Master’s degree in 2012, and a Ph.D. with honors in Chemical Engineering in 2017 from Chonbuk National University in Jeonju, Republic of Korea. During his time at Hanyang University, he taught undergraduate and graduate courses including Introduction to Quantum Chemistry, Nano Engineering, Organic Nano Analysis, and Composite Materials.

His research focuses on the design of advanced nanostructured materials, including 2D materials such as graphene, MXenes, hexagonal boron nitride, and transition metal dichalcogenides, as well as carbon-based hybrids, conducting polymers, and functional materials for applications in energy storage and conversion devices like batteries and supercapacitors, nanogenerators, sensors, solar cells, photocatalysis, and CO2 reduction. Dr. Ambade has received fellowships and funding from institutions including Hanyang University, Chonbuk National University, the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning of Korea, the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, BrainKorea21, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the US Army, DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory, and BM Holding USA. He has authored book chapters and numerous research articles in high-impact journals such as Nature Communications, Nano Energy, Advanced Functional Materials, Accounts of Materials Research, Chemical Engineering Journal, Small, Journal of Materials Chemistry A, and Carbon. In 2026, he received the Innovation in Education Award in the Early Career Researcher category at the World Education Summit for integrating advanced nanomaterials research into engineering education.
