About Rupesh

Dr. Rupesh K. Srivastava is an Additional Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Centralized Core Research Facility (CCRF) at AIIMS. He is a translational researcher with expertise in cellular and molecular immunology. He obtained his Ph.D. from the National Centre for Cell Science (NCCS), Pune, India, and completed post-doctoral training at Columbia University Medical Centre, New York, and Roswell Park Cancer Institute, New York, USA. Prior to his current role, he served as Assistant Professor at Dr. H. S. Gour Central University and progressed through faculty positions at AIIMS.

Dr. Srivastava leads the Translational Immunology, Osteoimmunology and Immunoporosis Lab (TIOIL) at AIIMS, where his research examines interactions between the immune and skeletal systems. He has coined and advanced the field of Immunoporosis, exploring immune contributions to osteoporosis and related conditions. His work includes studies on regulatory B cells, Th9 cells, gut-resident Tregs, the gut-immune-bone axis, and novel interdisciplinary areas such as osteomicrobiology and osteometabolism. He has secured funding for more than 20 major research projects exceeding 30 crore rupees from agencies including ICMR, DBT, DST, and others, and maintains international collaborations. Dr. Srivastava has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications with an h-index of 29 and more than 3,650 citations. He has received multiple honors, including recognition in the Stanford University/Elsevier top 2% scientists list for 2025, the ESCEO-Islene Araujo de Carvalho Prize in 2023 and 2025, the Prof. G. P. Talwar Gold Medal in 2024, AIIMS Research Excellence Awards, and the Prof. G. P. Talwar Young Scientist Award on two occasions. He is an elected Executive Committee Member of the Indian Immunology Society and supervises numerous graduate students. His lab holds designation as an ICMR-Collaborating Centre for Excellence on Bone Health.
