About Saiqa

Professor Saiqa Mullick is an Associate Professor and Reader at the Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute (Wits RHI) at the University of the Witwatersrand. She holds the qualifications MBBCh, MSc from the University of London, MPH and PhD, and is a medical doctor with a PhD in infectious disease epidemiology. She serves as Director of Implementation Science at Wits RHI, where she leads a multidisciplinary team focused on implementation science research, policy support, demand creation, market shaping and large-scale programme execution in the areas of HIV, sexual and reproductive health, and the intersections of climate and health.

Professor Mullick is the principal investigator on multiple implementation science studies that generate real-world data on biomedical HIV prevention integrated into service delivery for young women. She has provided technical assistance for introduction at scale and previously served as Deputy Director for the USAID-funded OPTIONS Consortium, which enhanced PrEP access for women in South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe. She was a strategic leader in the MOSAIC project, which accelerated new biomedical HIV prevention products across ten countries in East and Southern Africa. Professor Mullick serves on several national and international technical expert committees, including the national PrEP and STI technical working groups and the WHO STI Global Guidelines Development Group. She is a frequent speaker at global conferences on HIV prevention and adolescent health and has published extensively in these fields.
