Samantha Sherman is a Senior Lecturer in Fisheries at Deakin University in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences. Her research focuses on sharks and rays through fisheries management, ecology, and extinction risk. She serves as Principal Investigator of the Movement, Ecology, and Management of Elasmobranchs (MEME) Lab. Sherman is President of the Oceania Chondrichthyan Society and a member of the IUCN SSC Shark Specialist Group in the Asian Region.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy from James Cook University. Prior to her current role, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at Simon Fraser University.
