About Sanjib Kumar

Sanjib Kumar Panda is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He received a Bachelor of Engineering degree with first-class honours from Sardar Vallabhabhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology, Surat, India, in 1983, earning a gold medal for the highest marks among all B.Eng. students. He earned a Master of Technology degree from the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, in 1987, again receiving a gold medal for the highest marks among M.Tech. students in electrical engineering. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, in 1991, supported by the Nehru Cambridge Fellowship and an Overseas Research Studentship.

He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS as a Lecturer in 1992 and has served as Associate Professor since that time. His appointments have included Director (Education) at the Design Technology Institute, a joint venture between NUS and TU/e funded by Singapore’s Economic Development Board, Group Head of the Drives, Power and Control Group from 2007 to 2009, and Area Director of the Power & Energy Research Group since January 2010. Panda is an IEEE Fellow and has received the ACE Alumni Award 2024 from Sardar Vallabhabhai National Institute of Technology, Surat. His research focuses on power electronics, power and energy systems, motor drives, and control applications in renewable energy and microgrids. He has contributed to major programmes such as the Cambridge Centre for Carbon Reduction in Chemical Technology as Co-Principal Investigator.
