Sarah McLean-Orsborn is a Lecturer at Te Wānanga o Waipapa, School of Māori Studies and Pacific Studies, University of Auckland. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Pacific Studies from the University of Auckland, completed between 2019 and 2023. Her doctoral thesis is titled 'Navigating a global pandemic: Sāmoan women's experiences of COVID-19'.
McLean-Orsborn’s research focuses on Pacific health and wellbeing, Pacific women, grief, and mixed methods approaches. She has published work including the 2025 paper “An apology to my body,” which explores personal experiences related to body image, childhood, and health diagnoses. Her academic interests centre on Pacific Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Education at the University of Auckland.
