Professor Sarah Young is the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education at the University of Auckland. She holds a BSc and a PhD from the University of Otago, with her doctoral research completed in 2000. Professor Young has held senior leadership roles including Dean of Science at the University of Auckland, head of the School of Medical Sciences at the University of Sydney, and Deputy Dean of the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago. Her academic career has included positions at the University of Otago, Cancer Research UK, and institutions in Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Professor Young’s research focuses on immunology and immunotherapy. She has received the Sir Charles Hercus Fellowship from the Health Research Council of New Zealand and a Fulbright Senior Scholar Award. In her current role, she provides strategic leadership for the University’s academic mission, overseeing learning and teaching, curriculum development, and academic standards.
