About Saroj Kumar

Dr. Saroj Kumar Sahu is UGC-Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Science at Berhampur University, where he has served since 2024. He previously held the position of UGC-Assistant Professor at Utkal University from 2016 to 2024. He began his research career in atmospheric chemistry at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology in Pune in 2004. He earned his PhD in Atmospheric and Space Science from Pune University. He completed postdoctoral research as a scientist at Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany and at the National Institute for Environmental Studies in Japan.

Dr. Sahu’s research focuses on GHGs emission inventory, urban air quality and monitoring, climate and chemistry modelling, pollutant and weather measurement, and the development of sustainable clean air strategies and health impact studies. He leads the Air Quality, Emission Inventory and Modelling team at Berhampur University and has supervised two scholars to PhD completion with five more currently under his guidance. His professional experience spans 22 years and includes participation as a scientific member in the 28th Indian Expedition to Antarctica. He has contributed to national and international projects such as those under SERB, MoES, and UGC, and has delivered invited talks at institutions including the European Union Delegation to India, IIT Madras, and IISER Bhopal. He has authored 77 international publications along with nine scientific reports and books.
