Professor Shing Chuan Hooi is a Professor in the Department of Physiology at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. He graduated with MBBS degrees from the National University of Singapore in 1983 and obtained his PhD from Harvard University in 1992. He served as Head of the Department of Physiology at NUS from 2000 to 2008 and as Vice Dean of the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS. His research focuses on areas including liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and metastasis, as well as medical and health sciences education. Professor Hooi has received awards including the 2023 Mentoring Innovation and Leadership in Educational Scholarship (MILES) Award, the Faculty of Medicine Teaching Excellence Award, and the NUS Excellent Teacher Award in 2001. He has contributed to publications on topics such as the role of artificial intelligence in knowledge management and medical education in Singapore.
