About Shou

Shou Yufeng is a Research Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the National University of Singapore (NUS) College of Design and Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from NUS, with research centered on biomaterials and biomedical engineering applications. His doctoral work focused on cell mechanobiology and magnetic hydrogels. Following completion of his Ph.D., he transitioned to a postdoctoral research fellow position in the same department in May 2023.

Shou Yufeng's research specializations include the development of functional hydrogels for tissue engineering, immuno-engineering, wound healing, and cancer-related applications. He has contributed to projects involving magneto-responsive hydrogels that enable dynamic mechanical stimulation for accelerating diabetic wound healing and reversing malignant transformation in cancer cells. Key publications include co-first authorship on the 2023 paper titled “Dynamic Magneto-Softening of 3D Hydrogel Reverses Malignant Transformation of Cancer Cells and Enhances Drug Efficacy” published in ACS Nano, as well as work on dynamic stimulations with bioengineered extracellular matrix published in Advanced Science in 2023. His contributions appear in peer-reviewed journals, with his Google Scholar profile indicating over 1,000 citations in areas such as biomedical engineering, cancer pathobiology, stem cell therapy, and polymer chemistry. He has participated in collaborative research at NUS involving the NUS Tissue Engineering Program and the Institute for Health Innovation & Technology, including studies on magnetic gel systems for wound healing that demonstrated accelerated healing rates in preclinical models. Shou Yufeng has also engaged in earlier projects on itaconate-based biopolymers and nephron-on-a-chip technologies during his graduate studies.
