Søren Dinesen Østergaard is a Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine at Aarhus University, where he also serves as head of the research unit at the Department of Affective Disorders, Aarhus University Hospital - Psychiatry. He holds an MD and a PhD from Aarhus University, completing his doctoral dissertation titled Unipolar Psychotic Depression: Risk Factors, Psychometrics and Bipolar Conversion in 2014. He is deputy editor of the journal Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica and serves as an associate editor for Acta Neuropsychiatrica. His work includes publications addressing topics such as artificial intelligence chatbots and mental health, disparities in diabetes treatment for individuals with mental disorders, and the use of machine learning in psychiatric care. Østergaard contributes to editorial roles and assessment committees in his field.
