Professor Susan Elliott AM is Provost and Senior Vice-President at Monash University, a role she has held since June 2021. She previously served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) at Monash University from 2017 and held the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne. In 2023, she was appointed Interim President and Vice-Chancellor of Monash University. She will retire from Monash University in 2026 at the conclusion of her current term.
Professor Elliott holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Melbourne. She also holds qualifications in health economics and higher education from Monash University and the University of New South Wales. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and has worked as a clinician in gastroenterology. Her academic interests include medical curriculum development. In 2018, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to education, including as an academic administrator, a clinician in gastroenterology, and service to educational institutions in the Asia-Pacific region. She was the first Australian and first woman elected to lead the Asia Pacific Association for International Education.
