Sushi Das is a Lecturer in the School of Media and Communication at RMIT University. With more than 25 years of experience as a journalist and editor, she worked at The Age from 1995 to 2016, holding senior positions including state political reporter, news editor, columnist, feature writer and opinion editor. She moved to Australia in 1991 after being educated and raised in London and began her career as a news reporter with Australian Associated Press. Das served as Chief of Staff at RMIT ABC Fact Check from 2017 to 2022 and has been involved with the RMIT Information Integrity Hub. She is an award-winning journalist who received two Melbourne Press Club Quill Awards, including Best Columnist in 2005. Das is the author of the memoir Deranged Marriage, an east-meets-west account of arranged marriage. As a public speaker and media commentator, she has addressed topics including multiculturalism, racism and culture clash. She has also contributed as a columnist for SBS online and as a researcher for RMIT ABC Fact Check.
