Syrine Boucherabine is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Khalifa University in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences, where she was among the graduates of the institution’s first Biomedical Sciences PhD program. She also earned a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from the same university. Her research focuses on microbiology and molecular microbiology, with particular emphasis on antimicrobial resistance and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in the United Arab Emirates.
Boucherabine has contributed to several peer-reviewed publications. In 2024, she co-authored the paper “Proteomic and metabolomic profiling of methicillin resistant versus methicillin sensitive Staphylococcus aureus using a simultaneous extraction protocol.” In 2025, she led the publication “Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus: The Shifting Landscape in the United Arab Emirates.” Additional work includes studies on contamination of healthcare-derived smart watches and mobile phones by multidrug-resistant microbes, as well as mobile phones as fomites for pathogenic microbes. She is affiliated with the Department of Public Health and Epidemiology, the Biotechnology Center, and the Infection Research Unit at Khalifa University.
