Tianzhi Wang is an associate professor in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering at Tianjin University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural water conservancy engineering from China Agricultural University in 2013 and a Ph.D. in agricultural water and soil engineering from the same institution in 2018, with joint training at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an exchange at Columbia University. He completed postdoctoral research in environmental science at Tsinghua University from 2018 to 2020. Wang joined Tianjin University in 2020 as an assistant researcher, advancing to associate researcher in 2022 and associate professor thereafter.
His research centers on micro-nano bubble technology and its applications in water quality improvement, disinfection mechanisms in drinking water distribution systems, surface cleaning, agricultural irrigation and soil remediation, and related equipment development. Wang has led over 20 national and provincial research projects with total funding exceeding 6 million RMB. He has authored more than 60 SCI papers, including over 40 as first or corresponding author, published one monograph, and holds more than 30 authorized patents out of over 50 applications. His contributions have earned awards including the First Prize of Environmental Protection Science and Technology, recognition among China’s Top Ten Ecological and Environmental Science and Technology Advances, a National Patent Award, and Tianjin University’s Youth Science and Technology Innovation Award. He serves or has served as guest editor for Processes, youth editorial board member for Water Purification Technology, and in other professional roles. Wang’s work has been featured in media outlets such as Tianjin Television News Channel, Tonight News, and China Education Daily.
