Tim Bunnell is Professor of Geography in the Department of Geography at the National University of Singapore. He leads the Asian Urbanisms Cluster at the Asia Research Institute, where he previously served as Director from July 2019 until January 2026. Bunnell joined NUS in 1999 as a Postdoctoral Fellow and has remained based in the Department of Geography since that time.
He holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Nottingham. His academic work centers on human geography and urban studies, with a focus on Southeast Asia. Bunnell is editor of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography.
