Timothy Clark is Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University. He holds a BA (Hons.) in Applied Sociology from the University of Leicester (1985) and a PhD in Industrial Economics from De Montfort University (1990). Prior to joining SMU in 2019, he served as Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Social Sciences and Health) at Durham University in the United Kingdom. At SMU, he also held the position of Provost from 2019 to 2025.
His research interests include leadership communication and speaker-audience interaction in face-to-face and digital contexts, management ideas as social movements, management fashion and the management ideas industry, and knowledge-intensive firms. Key publications include the book The Flow of Management Ideas: Rethinking Management Audiences (Cambridge University Press, 2021, with co-authors), How to Get Published in the Best Management Journals (Edward Elgar, 2020, 2nd edition, with co-authors), and Using Conversation Analysis for Business and Management Students (Sage, 2018, with David Greatbatch). Additional works encompass articles such as “COVID-19 and management education: Reflections on challenges, opportunities, and potential futures” (British Journal of Management, 2020) and “The shifting nature of management research: A longitudinal analysis of the content of Journal of Management Studies 1964-2010” (Journal of Management Studies, 2014).
