About Tomohiro

Tomohiro Otsuka is an Associate Professor and Junior Principal Investigator at the Advanced Institute for Materials Research (AIMR) at Tohoku University. He also holds positions as Associate Professor in the Research Institute of Electrical Communication, the Department of Electronic Engineering in the School of Engineering, the Center for Science and Innovation in Spintronics, the Organization for Advanced Studies, and the Research Center for Neutrino Science at Tohoku University. He serves as Co-director of the Tohoku Quantum Alliance and as Chief Invited Researcher at the Qubit Materials Group at the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS). His research interests include the electronic properties of nanostructures and nanodevices, quantum devices and systems utilizing nanostructures, and informatics approaches in material and device science.

Otsuka leads the Otsuka Group, focusing on solid-state nanostructures and the development of quantum devices for new information processing and communication technologies. His work involves precise electric measurement and control techniques applied to quantum dots, graphene nanodevices, and materials such as zinc oxide. He has received the Young Scientists' Prize from the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, as well as the Minoru Ishida Foundation Research Award. Otsuka maintains affiliations with the Quantum Functional System Research Group at RIKEN as a Visiting Researcher.
