About Tsutomu

Tsutomu Sasaki serves as Professor of Nutrition Chemistry in the Graduate School of Agriculture at Kyoto University. He received his MD from the University of Tokyo School of Medicine in 1997. He completed clinical training in general surgery and neurosurgery at the University of Virginia Hospital from 1998 to 2002 and earned a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia in 2007. From 2007 to 2013, he held the position of Assistant Professor in the Lab of Metabolic Signaling at the Institute for Molecular and Cellular Regulation, Gunma University. He advanced to Associate Professor at the same institution from 2013 to 2019 before joining Kyoto University as Professor of Nutrition Chemistry in 2019. Sasaki maintains memberships in the Japan Endocrine Society, Japan Society for the Study of Obesity, Physiological Society of Japan, Japan Diabetes Society, Japan Neuroscience Society, Molecular Biology Society of Japan, Japan Society of Nutrition and Food Science, and Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.
