Tyler W. Myroniuk is a social demographer and Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Kansas. He is a faculty affiliate of the Institute for Policy & Social Research and the Kansas Population Center. His research interests include internal migration, family dynamics, and health, with particular focus on mental health, obesity, and aging. Much of his work is based in sub-Saharan Africa, including Malawi, South Africa, and Kenya, while he has also conducted health research and quality improvement studies in the United States and Canada. He primarily employs longitudinal quantitative methods but also uses qualitative and multi-method approaches.
Myroniuk earned a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in History from the University of Alberta in 2009, an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Alberta in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Maryland in 2015. Prior to joining the University of Kansas, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Public Health at the University of Missouri. His work has appeared in peer-reviewed outlets including Demography, Demographic Research, the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, the Journal of Gerontology Series B: Psychological Sciences and Social Sciences, Population Research and Policy Review, International Migration Review, Social Science & Medicine-Mental Health, and the American Journal of Human Biology. He has served as an Associate Editor of Demographic Research since 2022.
