Professor Vivek Soundararajan is Professor of Work and Equality at the School of Management, University of Bath. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University (2007), a Master of Letters in Management from the University of St Andrews (2010), and a Doctor of Philosophy in Management from Royal Holloway, University of London (2014). His research focuses on the governance of labour rights in supply chains and inequalities in and around organizations. He leads the Embed-Dignity research initiative and serves as Deputy Director of the Centre for Business, Organisations and Society at the University of Bath. He is also a United Kingdom Research and Innovation Future Leader Fellow and has held a visiting professorship at the University of Connecticut.
Soundararajan’s work has been published in leading journals including the Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of World Business, Organization Studies, and Human Relations. His research has received multiple awards and nominations, such as the Roland Calori Prize from Organization Studies (2025), the Academy of International Business Best Theory Paper Award (2023), the Financial Times Top 100 Papers with Social Impact (2020), and the Academy of Management Best Dissertation Award (2014). He is an editorial board member of the Journal of Business Ethics and Business & Society, has served as guest editor for several journals, and has secured approximately £2.1 million in research funding. His contributions extend to media appearances on outlets including the BBC and Al Jazeera, and he participates in academic conferences and panels.
