Vladan Đokić (born 1963) is a full professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, in the Department of Urbanism. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture in 1988, earned a master’s degree from the University of Southern California School of Architecture in Los Angeles in 1991, and received his PhD from the University of Belgrade Faculty of Architecture in 1998. His narrower scientific field is urbanism and spatial planning, with research areas including urban design and planning as well as urban morphology. He has served as a visiting professor at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering in Banja Luka and the Faculty of Architecture in Podgorica. His professional work has focused on urban design, planning, and morphology, including expert engagements with UNDP on training personnel in municipalities of southern Serbia (2002–2003), GTZ on real estate cadastre reform in Serbia (2002–2006), and FAO on the land consolidation strategy in the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry (2006–2007).
Đokić has authored multiple books and publications, including Urbana morfologija: grad i gradski trg (2004), Primorski grad u tranziciji (2005, with V. A. Milić), Prestonica Beograd (2006, with V. A. Milić), Urbana tipologija: gradski trg u Srbiji (2009), Teorija arhitekture i urbanizma (2010, with P. Bojanić), Misliti grad (2011, with P. Bojanić), Dijalozi sa arhitektama (2011, with P. Bojanić), and Arhitektura kao gest (2012, with P. Bojanić). Since its founding in 2009, he has been editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal Serbian Architectural Journal (SAJ). He has received numerous awards in international architectural-urban planning competitions and recognitions in practice, and has exhibited at international shows including Serbia New Efforts at the 10th International Architecture Exhibition, Venice Biennale (2006), and The Urban Reconstruction of the Danube Coastal Side In Central Belgrade Area at the ECTP conference and exhibition in Dublin (2008). He served as Dean of the Faculty of Architecture from 2012 to 2021 and has been Rector of the University of Belgrade since 2021.
