About Vladyslav

Vladyslav Vyazovskiy is Professor of Sleep Physiology in the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford. He graduated from Kharkov National University in Ukraine in 1997 and received his PhD from the University of Zurich in Switzerland in 2004. Between 2005 and 2011 he was a postdoctoral researcher and then an Associate Scientist at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States. From 2012 to 2013 he served as Lecturer in Sleep and Chronobiology in the Department of Biochemistry and Physiology at the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom.

He joined the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics at the University of Oxford in 2013 as a Senior Research Fellow, became Associate Professor of Neuroscience in 2015, and has been Professor of Sleep Physiology since 2021. He is also Tutorial Fellow in Medicine at Hertford College and Director of Graduate Studies at DPAG. His research group is part of the Sir Jules Thorn Sleep and Circadian Neuroscience Institute, with a focus on the role of sleep in neurodegenerative disorders, mental health, ageing and metabolism. He is Vice-President of the European Sleep Research Society.
