Professor W Barnard serves as Professor Extra-ordinary in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Stellenbosch University. He maintains an extensive career spanning research, development, marketing and general management, holding executive positions at corporate level in both civil and private sector companies. Over more than twenty years he has also held the position of Professor Extra-ordinaire at Stellenbosch University and the University of Pretoria, where he lectured in the management of high-tech enterprises and acted as promotor for numerous doctoral and masters theses.
Barnard has been appointed to several South African national institutes focused on trade and technology development. He served as President of the AHI (Afrikaans Institute of Trade) and has received customer recognition for excellence in engineering and marketing. He currently provides consulting services to companies, including family-owned businesses, assisting with the development and production of innovative solutions to market demands. His academic qualifications include a D.Sc. (Eng.) from the University of Pretoria, an M.Sc. (Eng.) from the University of Cape Town, a B.Sc. (Eng.) from the University of Pretoria, and completion of the Executive Management Programme at IMD Switzerland.
