About Woon Puay

Professor Woon Puay Koh is a Professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health and Duke-NUS Medical School at the National University of Singapore (NUS). She received her MBBS (Honours) from NUS in 1992, her PhD in immunology from the University of Sydney, Australia, and completed postdoctoral training in epidemiology. Professor Koh serves as the Principal Investigator of the Singapore Chinese Health Study, a large cohort study involving over 63,000 middle-aged and elderly Chinese Singaporeans. Her research focuses on the epidemiology of chronic diseases, including the roles of diet, environment, and genetics in ageing, cancer, and cardiovascular health. She holds the position of Professor in Healthy Longevity Translational Research and has led the study as principal investigator, contributing to advancements in population health science.

Professor Koh is the Director of the Centre for Clinician-Scientist Development at Duke-NUS and previously served as Assistant Dean for Faculty Development at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, appointed in February 2021. She has authored hundreds of scientific publications and secured substantial research funding. Her work has influenced understanding of chronic disease risks across the lifespan in Singapore. Professor Koh is also involved in mentoring clinician-scientists and faculty development initiatives at NUS Medicine.
