About Xingjun

Xingjun Wang is a Boya Distinguished Professor and tenured professor at Peking University, serving as Associate Dean of the School of Electronics. He earned his bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees from Dalian University of Technology between 1995 and 2005. Following his doctorate, he completed postdoctoral research at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and served as a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Electro-Communications in Japan. He joined Peking University in 2009, advancing from associate professor to full professor, and has held his current leadership roles since 2022.

Wang's research centers on optoelectronic integrated chips and information systems, with a focus on silicon-based photonics, optical communication, and related technologies. He has led numerous national projects, including National Key R&D Programs and NSFC key initiatives. His contributions include pioneering demonstrations of silicon-based optoelectronic systems achieving high data transmission rates, published in journals such as Nature and Nature Photonics. He has authored over 200 papers and holds more than 50 invention patents. Recognitions include Cheung Kong Scholar Distinguished Professor, Fellow of the Optical Society of America, Fellow of the China Institute of Communications, and Fellow of the Chinese Society for Optical Engineering, along with awards such as the 2024 Beijing Natural Science Award First Prize. He supervises numerous graduate students and postdocs, many of whom have received prestigious honors.
