Yanchao Bi is a Boya professor in the School of Psychological and Cognitive Sciences at Peking University, with affiliations at the IDG/McGovern Institute for Brain Research and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence. She received her PhD from the Department of Psychology at Harvard University in 2006. She established her laboratory at Beijing Normal University in 2006 and moved to Peking University in 2024.
Her research examines the functional and neural architecture of semantic memory, knowledge representation, and language processing through cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, multi-modal neuroimaging, and computational modeling. She serves as Senior Editor for eLife and Neurobiology of Language and on the editorial board of Cognitive Neuropsychology. Bi has received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, the National Science Fund for Excellent Young Scholars, New Century Excellent Talents in University recognition, Sackler scholar of psychophysiology, Fulbright scholar, and Rising Star designation from the Association for Psychological Science. Her work receives funding from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
