About Yanling

Yanling Deng is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Gangarosa Department of Environmental Health at the Rollins School of Public Health, Emory University. She earned a BS from the University of South China and a PhD from Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Dr. Deng's research primarily focuses on two areas. The first involves climate change and chronic diseases, exploring how factors such as wildfire smoke, PM2.5 components, ultrafine particles, and extreme heat influence the development and progression of conditions like dementia and depression among older adults. The second centers on environmental chemicals and reproductive health, examining the impacts of exposures including disinfection byproducts in drinking water, phthalates, bisphenol A, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on reproductive outcomes and pregnancy. In collaboration with colleagues, she has contributed to the Tongji Reproductive and Environmental (TREE) study, a cohort involving couples undergoing assisted reproductive technology in China to assess effects of lifestyle and environmental factors on reproductive health and early pregnancy outcomes. Her areas of interest include environmental health, epidemiology, reproductive health, air pollution, climate and health, chronic diseases, biomarkers, and maternal and child health.
