Professor Yen-Hung Lin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He joined the department in the summer of 2022. He earned his PhD in Experimental Solid State Physics from Imperial College London in 2015. Prior to his appointment at HKUST, he held research positions at Oxford University and Imperial College London. Before relocating to the United Kingdom in 2010, he served as a senior R&D engineer at AU Optronics in Taiwan.
Professor Lin’s research interests encompass renewable energy, perovskite solar cells, sustainable electronics, and optoelectronic neuromorphics. He has authored or co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals including Science, Nature Electronics, Nature Materials, Nature Energy, Nature Communications, Joule, Advanced Materials, Energy and Environmental Science, and JACS. He is a Materials Research Society (MRS) Graduate Student Gold Awardee and recipient of the Solid-State Physics Prize from Imperial College. Professor Lin serves as Associate Editor of PRX Energy and maintains a long-term academic visitor role at Oxford Physics. His work focuses on developing intelligent and sustainable electronic and optoelectronic devices and systems through advanced materials engineering.
