About Yoichi

Yoichi Sasaki is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Chemistry at the Faculty of Engineering, Kyushu University, a position he has held since May 2025. He previously served as an Assistant Professor in the same department and at the Center for Molecular Systems from 2023 to 2025. Sasaki earned his B.Eng. in 2016, M.Eng. in 2018, and Ph.D. in Engineering in 2021, all from Kyushu University. His doctoral research focused on near-infrared-to-visible photon upconversion. Prior to his faculty appointments, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Strasbourg from 2021 to 2022 and served as a visiting researcher at the University of Sheffield.

Sasaki’s research centers on photochemistry and light-matter interactions, including photon upconversion, singlet fission, triplet-triplet annihilation, and strong light-matter coupling in molecular systems. He has received several awards, including the Inoue Research Encouragement Award in 2024 and the Kyushu University Student Award in 2021. His contributions include publications in journals such as the Journal of the American Chemical Society, Advanced Materials, and Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics.
