About Yoshiki

Yoshiki Hatta is a Designated Assistant Professor at the Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University, affiliated with the Center for International Collaborative Research. He earned his degrees from the University of Tokyo, completing undergraduate studies in the College of Arts and Sciences from 2011 to 2014 and graduate studies in the Faculty of Science, Department of Earth and Planetary Environmental Science from 2014 to 2016, followed by doctoral studies in the Department of Astronomical Science, School of Physical Sciences at The Graduate University for Advanced Studies from 2016 to 2021. His research focuses on helioseismology, asteroseismology, linear inverse problems, stellar structure and evolution, and stellar internal rotation. Hatta has held previous positions including JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Solar Science Observatory, National Astronomical Observatory of Japan from 2021 to 2022, Designated Assistant Professor at ISEE Nagoya University from 2022 to 2023, and JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow at ISEE from 2023 to 2026, as well as serving as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research from 2024 to 2025.

Hatta has authored or co-authored peer-reviewed papers including “The prevalence of solar-like differential rotation in slowly rotating solar-type stars” published in Nature Astronomy in 2026, “High-order Gravity-mode Period Spacing Patterns of Intermediate-mass Main-sequence Stars” in The Astrophysical Journal in 2026, “Inversion for Inferring Solar Meridional Circulation” in The Astrophysical Journal in 2024, and earlier works on Bayesian rotation inversion and internal rotation of stars such as KIC 11145123 published in The Astrophysical Journal between 2019 and 2022. He is a member of the Astronomical Society of Japan and has contributed to research projects funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science on topics including stellar differential rotation and solar g-mode oscillations.
