About Yoshinori

Yoshinori Yoshida is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Application at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA), Kyoto University. He earned his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto University in 1997. Following his graduation, he completed residencies at Kyoto University Hospital and the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Cardiovascular Disease at Social Insurance Kokura Kinen Hospital. He pursued doctoral studies in the Graduate School of Medicine and Faculty of Medicine at Kyoto University from 2002 to 2007, during which he also served as a Post Doctoral Fellow and later as Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Disease at Kyoto University Hospital.

In 2008, Yoshida joined the Department of Stem Cell Biology at the Institute for Frontier Medical Sciences, Kyoto University, and transitioned to CiRA the same year. He advanced through roles including Assistant Professor and Junior Associate Professor before being appointed Associate Professor at CiRA in 2016. His research focuses on using induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells to study heart cells, with applications in regenerative medicine, drug discovery, and disease modeling for cardiac conditions such as cardiomyopathies and arrhythmias. This includes developing myocardial regenerative therapies, creating disease-specific iPS cell models, generating cardiomyocytes for clinical use, and investigating mechanisms of differentiation capacity in ES and iPS cells.
