Yosuke Mizuno is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Engineering at Yokohama National University. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering in 2005, a Master of Engineering in 2007, and a Doctor of Engineering in 2010, all from the University of Tokyo. His doctoral research focused on Brillouin optical correlation-domain reflectometry. Prior to his current position, which he has held since 2020, Mizuno served as a JSPS Research Fellow, Post-Doctoral Fellow at Tokyo Institute of Technology, and Assistant Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology from 2012 to 2020. His research interests include optoelectronics, sensing photonics, optical fibers, nonlinear optics, Brillouin scattering, polymer optics, fiber fuse, smart structures, and artificial nerves.
Mizuno is a Senior Member of the IEEE Photonics Society and holds memberships in the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, the Japan Society of Applied Physics, and other professional organizations. He has served on numerous technical program committees for international conferences such as OFS, OECC, CLEO, and APOS, and has held editorial roles including Topical Editor for Optics Letters and Associate Editor for Scientific Reports. Mizuno has received multiple awards, including the Young Scientist’s Award from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2021, the Funai Information Technology Award in 2017, and the Outstanding Paper Award from Light: Science & Applications in 2019. He maintains an active professional profile through committee roles and editorial contributions in photonics and optical sensing fields.
