About Yuan

Professor Yuan Lin is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He later obtained a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Solid Mechanics from Brown University in 2008.

Professor Lin’s research interests include cellular and molecular biomechanics, tissue development and morphogenesis, and mechanics of biological and active materials. His works have been published in top journals including PNAS, Science Advances, Nature Communications, and Physical Review Letters, and have received coverage in outlets such as Science Magazine, ScienceDaily, and Phys.org. He has served as Chair of the Gordon Research Conference on Nano-Mechanical Interfaces and as a keynote speaker at various conferences. Professor Lin also serves on the editorial boards of four international journals. His research areas encompass cell and tissue mechanics, nanobiotechnology, and mechanics of soft and active materials.
