About Yuhki

Yuhki Toku is Professor in the Faculty of Advanced Science and Technology at Kumamoto University. He earned a Doctor of Engineering degree from Akita University. His career includes appointments at Nagoya University as Assistant Professor, Lecturer, and Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering, Department of Micro-Nano Mechanical Science and Engineering, prior to joining Kumamoto University as Professor in April 2025.

Toku’s research focuses on nanomaterials, thin-film surfaces and interfaces, manufacturing and production engineering, and machine materials and mechanics. Key areas include the effects of high-density pulsed electric current on material properties such as fatigue performance, strain hardening relief, microstructural evolution, and crack healing in metals and alloys. He has contributed to publications on topics including nanowire fabrication, electromigration-based systems, and applications in shape memory alloys and high-entropy alloys. Toku received the Miura Award from the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2011 and the Creative Research Student Award from the JSME Tohoku Branch in 2010. He serves on committees including as operating committee member of the Materials Mechanics Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
