Yumei Wang is a professor at the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She earned a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Taiyuan University of Technology in 1999 and a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Her research focuses on the structural analysis of photosynthetic complexes, including recent work resolving the high-resolution structure of the Euglena gracilis photosystem I-light-harvesting complex supercomplex using cryo-electron microscopy. This research has provided insights into the structural diversity and evolutionary adaptations of oxygenic photosynthetic machinery in secondary endosymbiotic organisms.
