Dr. Yuming Guo (MD, PhD, FTSE, FAHMS, FASSA) is a Distinguished Professor of Global Environmental Health and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University and serves as Head of the Monash Climate, Air Quality Research (CARE) Unit. He is an elected Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences, the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, the Academia Europaea, the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, and the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. Dr. Guo holds prestigious fellowships including the NHMRC Leader Fellowship (Level 1) and Career Development Fellowships (Levels 1 and 2). His research focuses on environmental epidemiology, biostatistics, global environmental change, air pollution, climate change, urban design, residential environment, remote sensing modeling, and infectious disease modeling. He has led or contributed to large-scale international collaborations assessing the health impacts of air pollution, residential environments, and climate change, with support from the National Health and Medical Research Council, Australian Research Council, Victorian Department of Health, and the Wellcome Trust.
Dr. Guo maintains an exceptional publication record with over 600 papers in leading journals including NEJM, The Lancet, BMJ, Nature, Nature Medicine, Nature Climate Change, Nature Sustainability, PLoS Medicine, Nature Communications, JAMA Pediatrics, JACC, Circulation, Thorax, The Lancet Planetary Health, Environmental Health Perspectives, and Environment International. His work has garnered over 150,000 citations and an h-index of 111. He has received numerous awards such as inclusion in the Reuters Hot List of the World’s Top Climate Scientists, the Tony McMichael Award from the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology, the NHMRC Research Excellence Award, the Young Tall Poppy Science Award, the Rising Star of Australian Researchers award, the Best Young Scientist award from The Lancet-CAMS Committee, the Monash SPHPM Mid-Career Research Excellence Award, the AMREP Public Health Research Mid-Career Researcher Best Paper Award, and multiple Best Environmental Epidemiology Paper honors. Dr. Guo is a member of Australia’s Think Tank for Climate Change and Human Health, serves on research grant review committees, and sits on the editorial boards of PLoS Medicine, Environmental Health Perspectives, Environment International, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Environmental Science & Technology, and The Innovation.
