Dr Zhaogang Dong is an Associate Professor in the Science, Mathematics and Technology (SMT) Cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He received a BEng degree with First Class Honours in 2005 and a PhD degree in 2012, both from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. From 2012 to 2024, he served as a scientist at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) of A*STAR. He currently holds the position of Principal Scientist at A*STAR Quantum Innovation Centre (Q.InC) in addition to his role at SUTD.
His research interests include sub-10-nm nanofabrication, nanophotonics, dielectric nanoantennas, plasmonics, and quantum optical and superconducting devices. He has authored or co-authored approximately 80 refereed journal papers published in outlets such as ACS Nano, Science Advances, Nature Communications, Nature Photonics, Nature Electronics and Advanced Functional Materials. He also holds four PCT patents. Among his awards and honours are the 2024 IOP Outstanding Reviewer Award for Journal of Physics D, 2023 and 2022 MTC Individual Research Grant (IRG) Awards, 2023 IMRE Best Paper Award (Bronze), 2006 A*STAR Graduate Scholarship, 2005 Motorola Foundation Gold Medal from Nanyang Technological University, and a 2000 Undergraduate Scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Singapore. He serves as Lecturer and Programme Director for the SUTD Honours and Research Programme (SHARP).
