About Zienab

Zienab Ahmed serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Integrative Agriculture at the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, United Arab Emirates University. She earned a Ph.D. degree in Horticulture physiology and biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA, in 2014. Prior to her current role, she worked as an Assistant Professor at South Valley University in Egypt. She joined United Arab Emirates University as an Assistant Professor in August 2019 and has accumulated more than twelve years of teaching and research experience in the field of Horticulture. In her position at UAEU, she contributes to the Department of Integrative Agriculture through research, teaching, and scholarly activities focused on plant-related topics.

Her research encompasses areas such as protein kinase regulation of stress responses in fruits and vegetables, bioinformatics analysis of gene families in tomato, development of bionanocomposite films using natural materials, application of CRISPR/Cas9 technology to enhance climate resilience in staple crops, and genomic studies of genes in alfalfa under salt stress conditions involving melatonin and selenium. She has produced a substantial body of work including peer-reviewed articles, review articles, book chapters, and conference contributions. Her professional profile reflects ongoing activity in agricultural and plant science research at the university level.
