Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services
Position Purpose
The Assistant Director of Graduate Student Services directs and oversees the team that supports the graduate student lifecycle from application through graduation; serves as a liaison among the Graduate School, students, and the program; monitors students' progress; assists in the development and the interpretation of policy; and serves as a professional resource for academic programs. This position has direct responsibility for programs assigned to their subteam.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Four years of experience working in a higher education administrative office.
- Experience and skill with staff training and supervision.
- Experience and skill with event planning and coordination.
- Three years of experience working in a student information system.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience working with individuals from countries outside the United States.
- Experience working with individuals from underrepresented groups.
- Ability to work with a diverse audience.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrate organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage time and resources.
- Ability to work occasional events supporting graduate education, including evenings and weekends.
Desired Qualifications
- Banner, Microsoft Office and Degree Works experience.
- Strong familiarity with Oakland University.
- Experience with graduate students, including both domestic and international.
