Business Advisor

Job Summary

This role provides professional business and management advising in the areas of general business and accounting to existing or start-up small businesses for the Small Business Development Center.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements

• Facilitates and supports business clients in a learning environment by identifying their business needs and providing them with the tools and resources needed to assist them in building their business and improving their desired business growth
• Engages in routine meetings to identify new opportunities and tools to assist them in developing a strategic plan of growth in addition to creating and implementing change plans in partnership with program leadership
• Collaborates with staff to achieve client satisfaction and meet organizational goals
• Meets with strategic partners, including municipalities, for-profit and nonprofit organizations with an exclusive focus on improving Tarrant County community efforts
• Tracks and records the progress of business clients to ensure their completion of the business plan deliverables, and capital acquisitions and ensure the program is being followed to achieve successful completion
• Develops projects to meet the needs of the client including the preparation of reports and recommendations for overall projects and related activities
• Conducts outreach presentations and workshops to facilitate group learning and ensure the client understands the benefit of utility tools and resources that are available
• Uses all available modes of communication and selects the most appropriate mode according to the audience, project, or issue and level of confidentiality

Service Excellence

• Participates on behalf of the College in external community organizations and associations as assigned to support the essential performance requirements
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through the Tarrant County College (TCC) Institute
• Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College

Works under general supervision of the Director of Small Business Development Center
