Carpenter - Facilities, Planning, and Management
Job Description
The Carpenter works with Facilities, Planning, and Management to keep all buildings in a good state of repair, including repairs to walls, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, roof systems, etc. This person will be responsible for helping to maintain a safe, attractive, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors to inhabit.
Responsibilities
- Performs preparations and painting of interior and exteriors of buildings
- Performs repair and installation of doors
- Performs installation and repair of countertops, desk hardware, fire ext. hooks, thresholds, ceiling/floor tile etc.
- Performs installation and fabrication of steel posts, frames, etc.
- Keeps all gutters, drainpipes, and roofs clean, and patches holes in roofs as necessary
The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Skilled in the installation of drop-ceilings, floor tiles, replacing window glass, hanging sheetrock, building walls using wood and metal studs
- Knowledge in cabinet building and minor welding
Qualifications
Minimum: Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and one year experience in carpentry work, including sheetrock work and painting of all types; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred: Two years of experience in the installation of drop-ceilings, floor tiles, replacing window glass, hanging sheetrock, and building walls using wood and metal studs is preferred.
