Clinical Assistant Professor in Adult Psychiatry
The University of Iowa Department of Psychiatry is seeking faculty for a position(s) of Clinical Assistant Professor in Adult Psychiatry.
Job Details
Education/certification requirements:
- MD or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry (ABPN certification preferred upon hire or within required timeframe)
Required qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program
- Clinical training, experience, or demonstrated competency in Addiction Psychiatry, including the evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders
- Experience in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and substance use disorder management
- Eligibility for medical licensure (or active licensure) in the state of Iowa
- Demonstrated clinical experience in general psychiatry, including diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders across care settings
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in hospital or outpatient settings
- Strong commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
Desirable qualifications:
- Fellowship training or specialization in Addiction Psychiatry
- Academic experience includes: Teaching medical students, residents, or fellows Delivering lectures, grand rounds, or didactic sessions
- Interest or experience in psychiatric research, including publications or clinical research involvement
- Familiarity with innovative or advanced psychiatric treatments such as: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
- Experience in quality improvement initiatives in clinical settings
- Demonstrated interest in mentorship, education, and career development for trainees
- Professional membership in organizations such as the American Psychiatric Association, American Society of Addiction Medicine, or related societies
- Strong interest in outpatient psychiatry and integrated mental health care delivery
