The Transportation & Parking Services Dispatcher coordinates and monitors daily shuttle transportation operations to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient service. The dispatcher's daily duties involve communication and collaboration among drivers, management, and the Mount Community by dispatching drivers, monitoring route performance, tracking service issues, coordinating transportation requests, maintaining operational records, and assisting with parking-related duties.
Work Location: Doheny Campus (Downtown Los Angeles) and Chalon Campus (West Los Angeles)

Position Hourly Rate Range: $24.00 - $25.75
Position Hourly Rate with California Driver's License and Passenger Endorsement Certification: $26.00
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
- Schedules and dispatches drivers.
- Monitors telephones, department email inboxes, and on-road provision of service for quality.
- Answers and routes phone calls.
- Assist in coordinating routing inquiries and charter transportation requests.
- Monitors GPS tracking systems, vehicle telematics, and reservation systems.
- Coordinate service disruptions, delays, emergencies, and route adjustments with the MOD.
- Maintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received, drivers, dispatched, and service cancellations.
- Assist with driver check-in / check-out procedures.
- Prepare reports on all activities occurring during their shift.
- Direct drivers via phone or in person.
- Track operational issues/ concerns.
- Documents route closures, delays, and late departures and communicates issues to MOD.
- Participate in analysis and review of operating performance.
- Report customer service and employee performance issues or concerns to appropriate management for resolution.
- Assist with compiling and providing data reports on shuttle ridership, trends, and effectiveness of various transportation programs, including parking counts.
- Assist with preparing and maintaining various records and reports related to routing, schedules, accidents, and other transportation services.
- Assist with parking services operations and customer service functions as assigned.
- Process transportation & parking reservations in partnership with Campus Safety.
- Assist with maintaining and updating the department website, mobile transit app, GPS Dash Cams, onboard Wi-Fi, and other transportation technology in partnership with vendors.
- Monitor fueling levels to ensure proper fuel levels are kept for all fleet vehicles by using Samsara telematics or fueling logs, and assist with monitoring fueling duties.
- Assist with tracking and distributing equipment, supplies, and spare parts.
- Assist with the university's authorized driver and rental program.
- Assist with incident reporting, accident documentation, and operational investigations.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be able to work weekends and adapt to varying schedules.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge:
- Understanding of transportation operations and best practices.
- Working knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word, relevant to department operations.
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented, team-focused, and adaptable to changing demands.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with the Mount community.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One (1) year of dispatching, transportation operations, fleet coordination or related experience. Two (2) years of Customer Service experience is preferred. Experience using dispatch software, GPS systems, or transportation management systems preferred.
Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid Class C California Driver's License. Contingent on completion of a satisfactory driving records check and ongoing participation in the DMV Pull Program (driving record audits).
Other Requirements: Minimum 2 years of experience with a regular Class C license. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with passenger endorsement is a plus. Experience in transportation, logistics, fleet, and parking operations is preferred. Must be able to work weekends and adapt to varying schedules.
