The Facilities and Services Department at South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking an Energy Systems Engineer to join our team! We are looking for someone who has an innovative mindset and strong technical background who will help drive our commitment to sustainability and efficient energy usage on campus.

This position is located in Brookings, SD and is a 12-month, full-time, benefit-eligible position.

Facilities and Services is proud to care for campus, maintaining and improving the grounds, buildings, and extended facilities of the SDSU campus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is instrumental in conserving the University’s energy usage through the development, design, management, and coordination of construction and renovation projects affecting energy conservation, providing support to the Engineering Shop in utilities management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field completed by start date;
• Effective written communication skills;
• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills;
• Organized, detailed, and results oriented;
• Computer experience which includes Microsoft E-mail, Word, and Excel;
• Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire;
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; and
• Knowledge of building HVAC systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge or experience in project management.

Advertised Salary: The base salary for this position is $67,965, commensurate with experience.
