Description
The Division of Humanities at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) is seeking a qualified candidate for a teaching-track position in Philosophy. The primary responsibility of the successful candidate will be to teach common core (i.e. general education) courses, with a focus on making philosophical concepts accessible to non-humanities undergraduate majors.
The position involves teaching introductory courses on philosophy, covering both Eastern and Western traditions, as well as courses in Logic and Ethics. Additionally, the candidate may have the opportunity to teach other courses that align with the strengths of HKUST's philosophy faculty. This includes areas such as Chinese Philosophy, Analytic Philosophy, and Philosophy of Science, which are relevant given the increasing number of science and engineering students at the University.

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided, where applicable. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Qualifications
Applicants should hold a doctorate in Philosophy or a related field and possess demonstrated experience in teaching philosophy in Higher Education contexts, especially to students from diverse academic backgrounds. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex philosophical ideas in an engaging and relatable manner are essential.
